the pogues at the electric factory
god! i hate the electric factory. i have had very few good experiences there and yet we still went last night to see the pogues. the opening band was godawful and people booed. as bad as a band is i am not going to boo them cos at least they have the balls to go up on stage in front of a bunch of wankers. the pogues for the most part played well and played all the hits though im betting since the sound was subpar in the audience i can only imagine what the monitor mix they were listening to sounded like. a few songs spider was ahead of the rest or drums were a bit off time from the rest. it was an odd night and i felt bad for the lads. the crowd were a bunch of drunken louts and not the good time. i am kinda over people with this false sense of connection to ireland and just using it as an excuse to drink and obnoxious. after visiting ireland it allowed me to connect a bit more with the heritage, personality and the past that i only slightly knew and these fat ‘philly irish’ have no idea about. i enjoyed the show tho overall cos they are all good musicians and the songs have a special place in my heart no matter what. next time they should play at the TLA and have streets of sorrow on the setlist.
