are a band from nyc. jasper from the vigilantes sings and the music is very 80s synthy poppy vein leaning towards the joy division side of things. theyre over in UK land playing some shows, up for best new band award by NME. weird, as they really havent traveled outside of nyc. they played once here in philly with day of notice at jc dobbs. i think they would go over well if booked right at the barbary or KFN. produced video after the jump.

radio silence / a visual history of american hardcore

radio silence
radio silence, a new book ‘documents the ignored space between the Ramones and Nirvana through the words and images of the pre-Internet era where this community built on do-it-yourself ethics thrived.’

its rad to see some of the more background on this era of music. its interesting to see all the books and movies that are sprouting up from this era in time. match this with the history of anarcho punk and you have yourself and burgeoning punk rock book club.

buddyhead sums up new GnR and axl.

buddyhead sums up the new GnR coverbands new record chinese democracy well and axl himself. “axl is a dickhead” so true. i got passed along an early mix of their new record where there were no real drums but an almost jungle beat as a backing track. really axl? taking GnR to the dance clubs? this should not have seen the light of day. songs written in the 90s should have stayed there. if theres no izzy, duff, or slash forget about it.

moby joins fucked up on a cover song

moby joined fucked up during their 12 hour long set yesterday to cover the ramones ‘blitzkreig bop’. video after the jump.

japanese punk

punk from japan has always intrigued me. the music is one thing but seeing into the culture is another. the gap is just too large for me personally. any vision into the punk subculture is interesting.

i call shenanigans on howard stern

i was never into this guy. i just dont see it, though i can see joe sixpack being stoked so i guess its not meant for me in particular. but dude should not go trying to finagle with history. i am talking about him doing a Rock N Roll Highschool remake. seriously? who is going to fill in for the ramones? its gonna be some shit ass band when in a perfect world it would be municipal waste or annihilation time. seriously fuck you howard stern and whatever means of transportation you rode in on.
