bad apple. bad.

from gizmodo

RIAA wants to give artists 9% cut of the revenue pie while apple wants to give them just 4%. bad apple. bad. without the artists there would be no ipod. there would be no record labels. the music industry is so broken it is beyond repair at this point. fuck them. do it yourself.

carbon/silicon

the new project from mick jones and tony james has been garnering more and more attention recently. up until recently they released all of their music for free on the internet to an audience wanting more and more from the aging musicians. the band was on fresh air today and the rcrdlbl blog earlier in the month. the band played two shows in the US recently one in NY and one in LA, which kind of is a knock to fans cos i have been digging these dudes for a while now and pining for them to come over and when they do its out of reach.

minor threat drummer dump stuff on ebay

jeff nelson , drummer of minor threat and co-owner of dischord records is dumping quite a bit of interesting stuff on ebay including some test pressings and flyers.
check it. of note is the flyer for the minor threat show in philly at love hall with mcrad. this show has been bootlegged a gojillion times and a half and i believe is one of the better videos of minor threat live.

pinhead gunpowder to play 2 shows

wait. what? fer true? this long running band that consists of billie joe from green day and the elusive aaron cometbus from crimpshrine and some other dude that has rarely performed live but released one proper full length and multiple eps. the band will be playing 2 shows as of now in Anaheim and LA. check out their un-official
myspace page for additional info and some songs.

the pinkerton fucking thugs

have reunited with a slightly modified line up. the thugs were one of the early bands that i could relate to politically. speaking at a level of reality instead of unattainable anarchic dreams. the thugs released 2 records in their short life span both of which you would be hard pressed to find due to both labels having not really existing and the cds being way out of print. 1997’s “pain and the pinkerton thugs” came out on VML records and the appropriately named “end of an era” came out in june of 2000 on go kart records. having never seen the thugs i have hope to check out this newly reincarnated band somewhere on the east coast.

check their myspace

punk rock warlord

joe strummer punk rock warlordmutantpop.net released a compilation of remixed/mashed up clash and mescaleros songs. check it out. my favorite track has come to be ‘english ghost’. this comp has gotten me through many days in the cube and made it into regular rotation both at home and on the ipod.
